Trent Hunter - Pastor for Preaching and Teaching
Trent was born in 1981 in Columbus, OH, but grew up in the suburbs of three cities: Chicago, San Francisco, and St. Louis. Through the prayer and gospel witness of a schoolmate, the Lord saved Trent in the summer of 1995. Trent accepted the invitation to church from a desire to compensate for his sin, but discovered the gospel of grace which removes our sins “as far as the east is from the west” (Ps. 103:12).
The experience of God’s grace in salvation spilled over in a desire to minister that grace to others as a pastor. Trent pursued theological training at Moody Bible Institute (B.A., ’99), and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., ’10). From ’03–'05 he served as a Youth Pastor in the St. Louis area, and from ’10–'17 he served as Pastor for Administration and Teaching in Albuquerque. Trent’s unique role includes the preached Word and oversight of the church’s corporate gatherings.
Trent and Kristi have three children by adoption. Carson and Madalyn came home from Ethiopia in 2009 and 2010, and Shae came home from Mississippi in 2011.
Sandy McCormick - Executive Pastor
A native of Southern California, Sandy serves as Heritage's Executive Pastor. He and his wife Karen have three adult children - two sons and a daughter. Sandy enjoys reading, sports, and moderate exercise.
Sandy understands the pressures laymen face in balancing their walk with God, family responsibilities, work, and opportunities in local church ministry. His business background includes co-founding a marketing communications company, serving local, national, and international clients.
Prior to joining the pastoral staff in 1997, Sandy’s lay ministries included teaching, lay counseling, serving as an elder, and serving as chairman of the elder board. He served as Pastor of Adult Discipleship at Heritage from 1997 to 2015 when he moved to the role of Executive Pastor.
Sandy has a BA in Bible, an MA in Pastoral Studies, and a doctorate in Pastoral Theology.
Abe Stratton - Pastor of Member Growth
While working through degrees in Humanities and Speech, Abe attended Heritage for four years. God used the preaching of His Word and the joyful worship of His people to knit his heart to this church community. In the winter of 2006, Abe completed his graduate degree and married his best friend, Liz. Together, they enjoy reading, walking and hiking through God’s creation, and eating good food!
In January 2007, Abe and Liz left Greenville to serve at a Christian camp, but it was during that time that God began to cultivate two key desires in Abe’s heart - preaching His Word and building long-term discipling relationships with His people. Through His providential leading, God brought them back to Heritage in September of 2008, and they love the opportunity to serve in His ministry here (2 Corinthians 4:1).
Abe and Liz have an energetic and passionate son, Asher Perry, born in April 2010. In September 2011, God took their newborn daughter, Shiloh Mikayla, into eternity. In September 2012, God gave them another daughter, Adelaide June.
Brad Hilgeman - Pastor of Member Care
Brad became a Christian in 1977 while serving on board the USS Inchon in the United States Navy. A fellow sailor led him to faith in Christ, and just a few weeks later he surrendered his life to full-time vocational ministry. After his term in the Navy, he attended college, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Education. Brad has served in pastoral ministry for more than 25 years and has a significant amount of training in Biblical counseling. He and his wife Anna have four grown children and six grandchildren.
Hunter Sipe - Youth Pastor
Hunter and his wife, Nikki, were married in 2009. In 2014 the Lord blessed them with a son, Finn, and they anticipate the birth of another son in the summer of 2016. Having spent some of his growing-up years at Heritage and in L3inC, Hunter has a special burden for the ministry he is in. He was drawn to faith and discipled through the direct ministry of HBC and L3inC and longs to see others believe and grow in Christ through this church. After struggling with matters of faith and the assurance of his salvation, the Spirit of Christ drew Hunter’s heart toward the finished work of Christ on the cross and the empty tomb. Since being baptized at Heritage at age 19, Hunter has grown in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus and His Gospel.
Hunter was a Youth Pastor and Bible teacher in Columbus, Ohio, from 2011-2016. He is currently working towards a Masters’ degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Knox Theological Seminary in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Hunter loves sports, Christian books, Pit bulls and flip-flops.
